Top 3 reasons WHY you should have a structured training routine

If you walk into a gym, it is likely that you are going to see two types of people.

There are those who look like they are training with purpose and those who are a bit unsure of what to do and find themselves on the treadmill or the cross trainer, as they are worried of what others may think of them.

If you are the latter of these two, DON’T WORRY! It is completely natural that not everyone feels comfortable in an exercise environment. Personally when I walk into a gym, I feel quite confident in knowing where to go and what to do but if you were to put me on a construction site, I would certainly be hiding in the corner as I have no idea at all when it comes to building. Because we don’t expect at all that everyone knows how they should be training, here are the Top 3 reasons why you should organise a structured training routine (whether that be talking to friends to help you, researching yourself, or seeking professional advice).

1) Random training gives you random results!

Generally when you are undertaking exercise routines, you are working towards a specific goal. Whether it is weight loss, mass gaining, performance improvement etc. you are going to be confusing your body if the workouts you complete do not consistently have this particular focus.

2) Random training makes it hard to specifically track progress!

If you are completing different exercises and rep ranges every single week, you are going to find it hard to determine whether you are actually improving from week to week.

3) Random training leads to less accountability!

Having a structured program is a very useful way to be able to keep yourself motivated. If you know that you have to complete a particular workout on a specific day in order to achieve your goal, you are significantly more likely to undertake that session when compared to self-motivating yourself to go and do whatever you feel like.
